Police attacks Pride Parade in Ankara: MA reporter Vural hospitalised

ANKARA – Police attacked the Pride Parade in Ankara. Our reporter Emel Vural was beaten by the police, exposed to pepper spray and taken to hospital.
 
As part of the Pride Week in Ankara, a "Pride Parade" was held in Kuğulu Park. Kuğulu Park and its surroundings were blockaded by the police before the parade, held at the call of LGBTI+ organisations. Police attacked those who wanted to march on Kennedy Street. Many people were taken into custody, dragged on the ground and handcuffed from the back. The police, who blocked the street, attacked the protesters with pepper spray at close range.
 
LGBTI+s, who wanted to do the parade despite the attack, shouted slogans like "Resist hate, long live life" in the streets of Tunalı Hilmi Street. Being tortured by the police during detention, 23 people were taken to police station handcuffed behind the back.

Being exposed to police violence and pepper spray at close range, our reporter Emel Vural was taken to hospital by her colleagues. Vural who has bruises all over her body and have trouble breathing due to the pepper spray, took an assault report to file a criminal complaint against the police. 
 
KaosGL reporter Aslı Alpar was also attacked by the police and injured in her leg.
