ISTANBUL - T were subjected to a strip search while in custody, SKM members Deniz Aktaş and Ebru Yiğit said in a message: “We women will not be intimidated by sexual torture. We keep up the resistance, we will win."
4 people, including the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP) and Socialist Women's Assembly (SKM) Central Executive Committee (MYK) members Deniz Aktaş and Ebru Yiğit, were detained at their home in Gazi District on the night of August 18 and sent to the Istanbul Security Directorate. It has been learned that the four people who were taken into custody were restricted to lawyers for 24 hours, they were subjected to a strip search in an environment where male police officers were present, and the house was searched without a camera.
YİĞİT: WE WILL WIN
Yiğit and Aktaş, who were detained, sent a message through their lawyers after the restraining order was lifted. Noting that she was subjected to "strip-search torture" when she was detained, Yiğit said: "They will not be able to intimidate women by using sexual torture at home, on the street or in custody. We will continue to enlarge our women's liberation struggle in spite of detention, oppression and conspiracies. We will win.”

In her message stating that she was subjected to "strip-searching torture" for the second time in a week in the Istanbul TEM Branch, Aktaş said: "As socialists, we are again faced with detention attacks. For the second time in a week in the Istanbul TEM Branch, the same police imposed us strip search torture, but we will Continue to resist all fascist oppression, sexual torture and conspiracies."
