ISTANBUL - MKGP demanded an investigation be launched against the police officers who battered the journalists who followed the news stories in Van and threatened them with death.
The Mesopotamia Women Journalists Platform (MKGP) condemned the beating and death threats of journalists following the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) rally in Van yesterday. In the statement made by the MKGP, it was pointed out that the dose of police violence increased day by day.
The statement said, "While they were covering the news stories in Van on September 1, JINNEWS reporters Zelal Tunç and Elfazi Toral and Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporter Berivan Kutlu were pulled a gun and threatened with death by the police. These policies of violence and threats against journalists must be stopped as soon as possible. An investigation should be initiated immediately against the police threatening journalists. We, as MKGP, will follow the process."
