DİYARBAKIR - It has been stated that the heart rhythm of seriously ill political prisoner Mehmet Emin Özkan, who has been under treatment at Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital for 4 days, dropped to 40.
Mehmet Emin Özkan (83) who is on the list of seriously ill prisoners who need to be released from prisons urgently, was taken to Gazi Yaşargil Training and Research Hospital on September 2 after he took a turn for the worse in Diyarbakır Type D Prison. It was stated that Özkan, who was kept under treatment in the intensive care unit for 3 days, was taken to normal room. His family, who was not informed about the complaint he was taken to the hospital for, was not allowed to meet with Özkan.
The family, who was able to meet with the doctors today, learned that Özkan was hospitalized due to a heart condition. It was stated that Özkan was being treated in the intensive care unit, especially due to the imbalance in heart rhythm and high blood deficiency. It was learned that Özkan, who was taken to a normal room, will be taken back to prison today. The Özkan family keeps waiting at the hospital continues.
HIS HEART RYTHM DROPPED TO 40
According to the information received from the family, Mehmet Emin Özkan's heart rhythm, which should be between 60 and 100 under normal conditions, dropped to 40. The family reported that a doctor said, "It is very difficult for even a young person to live with this rhythm." The family said that the doctors were going to put a pacemaker in Özkan's heart, but later changed their minds, and that Özkan had a high level of blood deficiency.
ÖZKAN WILL BE TAKEN BACK TO PRISON
Despite all attempts the family was not allowed to see Özkan who will be taken back to the prison after getting the results of analysis and examination report.
HE HAD 5 HEART ATTACKS
Özkan is claimed to be involved in the killing of Brigadier General Bahtiyar Aydın in the Lice district of Diyarbakır in 1993. Özkan, who has been in prison for 27 years, has health issues like high blood pressure, goiter, osteoporosis, hearing and vision deficiency and memory loss. Özkan, who has had 5 heart attacks in prison so far, is not released from prison based on the reports given by the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK), despite the hospital's reports that says that he cannot remain in prison.
