ISTANBUL - It was stated that 15 prisoners whose wards were raided and all their materials confiscated in Bafra Type T Prison were put in cells. The prisoners, who called their families on the phone, said that they had no life security.

Pressure on political prisoners continues in Samsun Bafra Type T Prison. On September 5 and 6, guards raided the wards of political prisoners in prison. It was learned that during the raids, all basic and vital belongings of the prisoners, especially their clothes, books, pens and notebooks, were confiscated. It was reported that after the raids, 15 political prisoners were put in solitary cells and other prisoners were put in single rooms.

PRISONERS EXPLAINED THE VIOLATIONS OF RIGHTS

Cevdet Güneş, who was arrested on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organisation" in August 2016 in Kars and sentenced to 10 years and 7 months in prison in the case where he was tried 11 months later, was detained in Bafra No. 2 Type T Closed Prison, reported rights violations in prisons.

WARDS WERE RAIDED

Güneş shared the information that his ward was changed and that his friends in the ward were taken to other wards. Saying that all his belongings were stormed during the raid, Güneş said: “They took all our books, writings, belongings and materials. They battered our friends. Now we are far from each other. On the other hand, they opened investigations on our friends and do not release them. Many friends needed to be released, but they are not releasing them either. They are trying to provoke and attack us. We have no life safety. If a problem arises here, the prison administration and the government is responsible. What happened in Bafra Prison is 'oppression'." Güneş's brother Servet Güneş said: I am always behind my brother. The path he took is an honorable path for me. My brother defended his own language and honor, and continues to walk for this cause.

15 PRISONERS WERE PUT IN CELLS

Stating that she had a telephone conversation with her older brother Faruk Beyter, who was imprisoned in the same prison, Besna Beyter said: “The lawyers should go and talk to the prison administration against the violations of their rights. My brother stated that there were intense rights violations and oppression in prison, and that after the raid, 15 of his friends were put in cells and all their needs were taken from them.”

SHE CALLED TO TAKE ACTION

Beyter noted that her brother said that all prisoners' necessities, especially clothing, books and pens were confiscated by the guards, and that the prisoners faced ill-treatment. Beyter called on the families of the prisoners, MPs and lawyers to take action against what happened.
