ANKARA - Imprisoned Kurdish politicians Selahattin Demirtaş and Selçuk Mızraklı shaved their heads for Jîna Mahsa Amini, murdered by the Iran state.

 

Selahattin Demirtaş, former Co-Chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), who is currently being held in Edirne Type F Closed Prison, and Diyarbakır Municipality Co-Mayor Selçuk Mızraklı, shaved their heads for Jîna Mahsa Amini, who was murdered by the Iranian regime.

 

Sending a message with their lawyers, the imprisoned politicians said: "We feel the grief for Mahsa Amini from the bottom of our hearts, who was murdered by the Iranian 'morality police' because her part of her hair showed." The message of Demirtaş and Mızraklı is as follows: “Resisting against oppression and persecution is not just the duty of women. To support the struggle for equality and freedom, where women bravely lead, and to state that we stand with the people resisting for freedom in Iran, my cellmate Dr. Selçuk Mızraklı and I  shaved our hair today. All the oppression and tyranny schemes will eventually collapse in the face of the people's resistance. Salute to those who resist. May God have mercy on Mahsa Amini, we express our condolences and wsh patience to his family and our people; With greetings, we convey our feelings of solidarity.”
