SIRNAK - Seriously ill prisoner Tenzile Acar, who is being held in Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison, stated that cleaning and bathroom supplies were confiscated in the wards where the scabies epidemic broke out.
In addition to oppression and violations of rights in prisons, arbitrary practices of the administration continue. Severely ill prisoner Tenzile Acar, held in Istanbul Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison, stated that her cleaning and bathroom supplies were confiscated in her weekly phone call with her family. Rısmiye Acar (45), is the mother of Tenzie Acar who was arrested after being detained in Istanbul in 2017, said that her daughter and roommates were deprived of everything.
Rısmiye Acar said the following about the meeting: "My daughter called on Tuesday and said that there is a huge attack on them. Scabies has spread in the ward. They couldn't clean because their supplies were taken away because of this, scabies spread. They are not taken to the hospital and treated. Guards confiscate cleaning, bathroom supplies and books. Deaths come from prisons every day, We want these attacks to end."
'THEY CAN'T TAKE A BATH'
Stating that her daughter wanted lawyers to visit the prison urgently, Acar said: "What has been done is unfair. They do this to annoy them. They don't give their medicine. They kill prisoners in prisons. Then they explain that the prisoners died. Their bodies are itchy due to scabies and they cannot take baths. They suffer in prisons and we also suffer for them. We want the Turkish state to stop these practices in prisons.”
