ISTANBUL - HDP Diyarbakır MP Semra Güzel, whose immunity has been lifted, has been held in a cell for 23 days.
Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Diyarbakır MP Semra Güzel, whose immunity was lifted in March, was detained in Istanbul on September 2 as part of an investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. Guzel, who was subjected to ill-treatment and police violence during her detention, was arrested on September 3 and sent to Silivri Prison.
Güzel has been kept in a cell since the day she was arrested. Two days ago, her lawyer Veysi Eski visited Güzel, who has been in a cell for 23 days. Stating that Güzel's motivation and health are good, Eski said that Güzel has submitted three petitions to go to a female prisoner who is on trial for the same case. Stating that there has been no written response to Güzel's request so far, Eski said that the prison administration gave a negative answer to Güzel verbally.
Eski stated that Güzel had a serious difficulty due to the isolation and that there was no radio or television in her room. Eski also stated that the books sent to Güzel had just been given away since she was arrested.
