DİYARBAKIR- It was demanded that Former HDP MP Çağlar Demirel was sentenced to prison for her words that the AKP organized the ISIS attacks against her party, within the scope of Article 301 of the TCK.
The hearing, which is about Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) former MP Çağlar Demirel, while criticizing the ISIS attacks on her party due to her words of "Yesterday's attack was a bomb organised by ISIS gangs and AKP. Today, we think that the state and AKP government unlawfully kidnapped our co-chairs and our MPs" and the two demonstrations she participated in with the allegation of "insulting the state and government of the Republic of Turkey", was held at the Diyarbakır 4th Criminal Court of First Instance which Demirel did not attend and attorney Serdar Çelebi was present.
The prosecution, which submitted its opinion to the court at the hearing, demanded that Demirel's statements in question "insult the state and government of the Republic of Turkey, and that Demirel be sentenced to imprisonment under Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code.
The prosecutor pointed out that Demirel was tried at the Diyarbakır 5th High Criminal Court due to two speeches on different dates within the scope of the case, and that this trial was decided. The prosecution, therefore, 223/7 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CMK). Within the scope of the provision "If there is a previous verdict or a lawsuit filed for the same defendant due to the same act, the case will be dismissed" in the article, he requested the dismissal of the case for 2 separate speech parts.
Demirel's lawyer, Serdar Çelebi, requested time to defend himself against the opinion.
The court accepted the time request and adjourned the hearing to November 15.
