ŞIRNAK - The remains of Nagihan Akarsel, who was assassinated in Sulaymaniyah, is brought to Şirnak by road, after it was prevented from being brought by airline.
Nagihan Akarsel, a member of the Jineology Research Center and editor of the Journal of Jineology, was murdered as a result of an armed attack on October 4 in the city of Sulaymaniyah in the Federated Kurdistan Region. Akersel's remains is being brought to Turkey to be laid to rest in her hometown, Konya. The remains, which had been expected to be brought to Turkey by airline for days, could not be sent by plane due to the funeral transport procedures at Hewlêr Airport.
Akersel's remains, her family, and HDP Şırnak MP Hüseyin Kaçmaz were among them, accompanied by a convoy by road. The remains, which set off from Hewler, is expected to arrive at the Habur Border Gate in Silopi district of Şırnak at around 17:00.
