KONYA - Many people started to gather in Gölyazı to bid farewell to the Nagihan Akarsel, a member of the Jineology Research Center.
The body of Jineology Research Center member, journalist and writer Nagihan Akarsel, who was killed as a result of an armed attack in the city of Slemani in the Federated Kurdistan Region, was brought to Konya City Hospital this morning. Akarsel will be laid to rest in Gölyazı (Xelikan) village, her hometown, after autopsy.
LAMENT FOR AKARSEL
Arrivals to the village for Akarsel's funeral ceremony began. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Women's Assembly Spokesperson Ayşe Acar Başaran, MPs Fatma Kurtulan, Dilşat Canbaz, Abdullah Koç and Mehmet Rüştü Tiryaki arrived in the village early in the morning. In addition, many people from the surrounding villages came to Akarsel's family home. Women who wore Akarsel's photographs on their chest lamented for Akarsel. Women stated that Akarsel left a great legacy and struggle for them to follow.
On the other hand, the village was blockaded by soldiers. Soldiers checked the ID's of those who came to the village at the entrances and exits of Kulu and Cihanbeyli districts.
