ANKARA - One of the journalists under custody, stated that it is the journalist's duty to find the facts and that they are honoured for their insistance in the truth.
As part of the Ankara-based investigation, 11 journalists from Mesopotamia Agency (MA) and JINNEWS were detained with raids on their homes on October 25, in 9 different provinces. Journalists detained in Ankara Police Department were able to meet with their lawyers yesterday after the ban on lawyers ended. MA reporter Deniz Nazlım, who has been detained for 3 days, and Mehmet Günhan, who worked as an intern in the Ankara office of MA for a short time, sent the following messages through their lawyers:
Deniz Nazlım: “We are honored to insist on the truth. Regardless of the venue, it is the journalist's duty to find the truth and make the people read it. We are on our duty, we will continue to do so."
'TOGETHER WE WILL OVERCOME THE DARKNESS'
Mehmet Günhan: “When I was working at the Mesopotamia Agency, I saw how difficult it is to find and reveal the truth. Today, we call on our people to be the eyes and ears of the Mesopotamia Agency against practices that distract Free Press employees from this pursuit. We will overcome this darkness together.”
