ANKARA - Stating that they are the followers of the tradition of free press, detained journalist Öznur Değer said: "We will continue to be the voice of those silenced."
As part of the Ankara-based investigation, 11 journalists from Mezopotamya Agency and JINNEWS were detained with raids on their homes on October 25 in 9 different provinces. Journalists held in Ankara Security Directorate for 3 days sent messages through their lawyers. JINNEWS reporter Öznur Değer, who was detained in Mardin and brought to the Ankara Police Department, called for solidarity in the message she sent through her lawyers.
'WE ARE STRONG, WE ARE IN ALT'
The message of Değer is as follows: "We are the followers of the free press tradition that gets is strength from journalists like Musa Anter and Gurbetelli Ersöz. We did not bow down when 16 of our friends were arrested and we will not bow down now that we are the ones under custody. We are strong, we are in alt. Thanks to everyone in solidarity. We will continue to be the voice of those silenced wherever we are."
