NEWS CENTER - Kurdish artist Samin Yassin, who supported the ongoing protests in Iran with his songs, was sentenced to death by the court.

The protests in Iran that started with the murder of the Kurdish woman Jina Emini by the "morality police" on September 16, continue. Kurdish artist Samin Yassin (Seydî), who supported the demonstrations by singing political songs during the protests and was detained on October 2, was sentenced to death by the court.

HE WAS SUBJECTED TO TORTURE

Yassin, who was detained and severely tortured in the city of Kermanshah in Rojhilat, was brought before the Iranian regime court yesterday. Yassin denied 11 charges against him. The entire trial was broadcasted live on Iranian state television as one of the methods used by the Iranian regime to "spread fear". The court sentenced Yassin to death after a 10-minute trial.

THE DECISION WAS PROTESTED

After the decision, young people in many cities of Iran and Rojhilat took to the streets to protest the decision. Again, artists living in many countries of the world condemned the death penalty given to Yassin and started a campaign to have the decision overturned.
