BATMAN - Pointing out that the pressure grows as the elections approach, DBP Party Assembly Member Nurten Üzümcü said: "The victory sign our Co-Chairman Bayındır made while he was taken into custody is the sign of a common struggle."
Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır and Diyarbakır Provincial Co-Chair Hayrettin Altun, who were detained on December 23 as part of the investigation carried out by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, were arrested on December 26 on the charge of "being a member of a terrorist organization". 13 provincial co-chairs were released on condition of judicial control.
'VICTORY SIGN IS A SIGN OF STRUGGLE'
Nurten Üzümcü, a member of the DBP Party Assembly (PM), evaluated the raids against their party. Üzümcü said, “These detentions and raids intensified since 2015. Thousands of our friends have been detained or arrested for 8 years. After the political genocide, our people embraced their party more. This operation is an operation carried out with the motivation of winning the elections without competition. The AKP-MHP government should see this clearly; they've been trying this for 8 years. They should know well that our party can not be annilated with detentions and arrests. The V-sign our Co-chair Bayındır made during his arrest is a sign of struggle and unity. It is the sign of common struggle."
'IT WAS AN ELECTION-ORIENTED OPERATION'
Stating that the raids on their party member's homes was unlawful, Üzümcü said the "evidence" was collected like pirates. Üzümcü underlined that the operation was election orianted and they will not be intimidated with operations and raids.
'CALL TO BE MEMBERS OF DBP
Stating that the AKP- MHP government attack their party out of fear of losing the elections, Üzümcü said: "They are in an offensive position because they know they will lose. They know the people will respond to their bad policies. We have never took a step back, and we won't do it after now. Our call to all our peoples is to unite around our party and sign for membership."
