ANKARA - Stating that the whole country has been turned into an open prison with the isolation policy that started in İmralı, HDP MP Dilşat Canbaz Kaya said: "We call on the whole society to raise their voices and protest against the Imrali isolation."
The demonstration, which was initiated by the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MPs to allow PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan to meet with his lawyers, continued on its 24th day. MPs Şevin Coşkun, Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit, Murat Sarısaç, Kemal Peköz, Murat Çepni, Hasan Özgüneş, Nusrettin Maçin, İmam Taşçıer, Ali Kenanoğlu, Erdal Aydemir, Muazzez Orhan, Dilşat Canbaz Kaya, Züleyha Gülüm and Celadet Gaydalı attended the demonstration with the banners “The law should be implemented in İmralı” and “Isolation is a crime against humanity”.
'WE SHOULD RAISE A COMMON VOICE'
Saying that the AKP-MHP government has declared everyone who claims rights as "terrorists", Kaya said: "Any segments of the society are prosecuted just for voicing their demands. We should raise a common voice. As the HDP group, as half of this country, we call on women, Alevis, youth, workers and all oppressed workers to stand up and protest against the isolation in Imrali because this isolation is being applied to all of us and it has engulfed the whole country. We are renewing the requests. We demand once again that Mr. Öcalan be contacted with his family and lawyers."
