ANKARA - The Ministry of Justice, which has not responded to the applications for meeting with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan for 105 days, continues its silence despite the demonstration, which has entered its second month.
PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held under heavy isolation conditions for 24 years in the İmralı Type F High Security Prison, to which he was brought with an international conspiracy, has not been heard from for 22 months. Finally, family and lawyer applications made with the request of meeting with Öcalan, who had intermittent telephone conversations with his brother Mehmet Öcalan on March 25, 2021, are either left unanswered or rejected with penalties under the name of "discipline".
The European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) announced that it visited Imrali Island between September 20-29. After the visit, Asrın Law Office announced that they have heard that there was no meeting with their clients Abdullah Öcalan and the prisoners Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Aktaş and Hamili Yıldırım during.
This time politicians were interviewed upon this worrying development. Politicians applied to the Ministry of Justice, requesting a meeting with Öcalan and other prisoners.
NO RESPONSE FOR 105 DAYS
Firstly, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chairs Pervin Buldan and Mithat Sancar, Party Spokesperson Ebru Günay and HDP MP Ömer Öcalan applied to the Ministry of Justice with a request to meet with Öcalan on October 20, 2022. Although 105 days have passed since the application, the ministry did not give a positive or negative response.

After the silence of the Ministry of Justice, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair Saliha Aydeniz and HDP MPs Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit, Nuran İmir and Erdal Aydemir applied to the ministry with the same request on November 30, 2022; however, the ministry has not yet responded to the application, even though 64 days have passed.
