ANKARA - Stating that the AKP-MHP government has aggravated the isolation in Imrali, HDP Van MP Muazzez Orhan said: "The isolation should be ended."
The Justice Watch, initiated by Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) MPs to allow PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan to meet with his lawyers, continued on its 31st day. MPs Fatma Kurtulan, Kemal Peköz, Muazzez Orhan, Şevin Coşkun, Abdullah Koç, Kemal Bülbül, Serpil Kemalbay, Sait Dede, Hasan Özgüneş, Ayşe Sürücü and Nuran İmir made a statement in the parliament garden together with the signs "The law should be applied in İmralı", "Isolation is a crime against humanity".
Speaking in the statement, HDP Van MP Muazzez Orhan emphasized that there has been a "deepened" isolation on Öcalan for almost 2 years. The isolation is not limited to the İmralı Prison, Orhan said that the isolation is reflected in all prisons and society in Turkey.
DIALOGUE IS THE SOLUTION
Noting that the government will continue these policies in order to prolong its life, Orhan said: "The main reason for all the economic, political and social crises that the country is in today is to insist on the insolvency of the Kurdish question and to deepen the policies of war and isolation. This is not a solution, the solution will not come from the government. That's why we are calling out to all the peoples, workers and women of Turkey from here. Isolation affects our lives. The deadlock policies of governments affect our lives. This society wants to be condemned to poverty, hunger and slavery. You cannot solve the main problem of this country, the Kurdish problem, with policies of isolation, war, denial and destruction. The solution to the problem is dialogue, negotiation. The isolation in Imrali must end. We call on the peoples of Turkey to protect their future. Isolation is a crime against humanity. We will continue our struggle until this isolation ends.”
