MARAŞ - Only one doctor and one nurse provide health services to 9 thousand earthquake victims at the Salih Hayosöz Integrated Health Center, which was opened yesterday in Narlı, one of the places affected by the earthquakes.
While 10 cities were affected by the Maraş-centered earthquakes, more than 41 thousand citizens have lost their lives and tens of thousands of people have been injured so far. Narlı town of Pazarcık district of Maraş, the epicenter of the earthquake, also suffered great damage in the earthquakes. In the town where 21 people lost their lives, the wreckage of collapsed buildings looks like it is. In the town, where the houses are generally two-storied, many buildings remain intact, while citizens stay in tents due to aftershocks.
HEALTH CENTER OPENED AFTER 14 DAYS
The only health center of the town, which is close to 15 thousand and has a population of 9 thousand after the earthquake, Salih Haysöz Integrated Health Center, started to serve on the 14th day of the earthquake. A doctor and a nurse from Narlı serve in the health center. Although both the doctor and the nurse were victims of the earthquake, they had to work because no health worker was appointed by the Ministry of Health in the town. Healthcare workers who are victims of earthquakes also try to cure the health problems of earthquake victims.
