ŞIRNAK- Condemning the attacks of Turkey on Rojava and the Federated Kurdistan Region despite its decision of inaction, the Mothers of peace said: "Turkish state furnds war instead of earthquake. If the state had sent its force, which it used to bombard the Kurdistan mountains, to earthquake areas, there would not have been so many deaths."
10 cities were affected by the earthquakes with a magnitude of 7.7 and 7.6 centered in Maraş. While more than 40 thousand people lost their lives in the earthquake, there are still citizens under the rubble in many cities. Official institutions of the state, which often say "we are ready for earthquakes", were only able to come to the ruins on the third day of the earthquake. While the failure to send military units to the earthquake area also caused condemnations, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), which could not go to help in the earthquake region, continues its attacks on the Medya Defense Areas of the Federated Kurdistan Region and Northern and Eastern Syria, despite the KCK's decision of inaction on February 10.
Evaluating Turkey's attacks, the Mothers of Peace from Botan condemned the state's continued attacks and called for an immediate end to the attacks and support for the earthquake victims.
'THE ATTITUDE OF THE STATE CANNOT BE ACCEPTABLE'
Behiye Nayır, one of the Peace Mothers, stated that the attitude of the Turkish state is unacceptable and said that the peoples of Turkey should join hands and heal their wounds together. Nayır said: “The state should come to the rescue of its people and show solidarity. Instead of supporting its people, it bombarded the mountains of Kurdistan with its tanks and artillery on the first day. Those children, whom the Turkish state called 'terrorists', decided to stop their actions and said: 'We will not attack unless they attack, we will stop our military activities for a while', but the Turkish state did not stop, they bombarded with warplanes. It hits Syria on the one hand and Bashur Kurdistan on the other. We condemn and do not accept this attitude of the Turkish state. Aid has not been sent to many villages of Maraş until now, people died of starvation, freezing from the cold. Kurds, Turks and Arabs should collaborate with each other."
'IT WAS A MOBILIZED FOR WAR NOT SOLIDARITY'
Drawing attention to the attacks of the Turkish state, Zeynep Beğenir, one of the mothers said: "The Turkish state should support their own people instead of attacking the Kurds. Due to the earthquake, HPG made a statement and called for its forces to stop the actions. But the state increased this war and attacks, instead of stopping it. It bombarded the mountains and cities of Kurdistan again. The Turkish state funded war instead of earthquakes. Its mobilization was mobilized for a war instead of solidarity with its people. Under those rubbles, Kurds, Arabs , Turks and people of all nations remained. The state should have stopped its tanks and artillery and withdrawn its soldiers. Instead of attacking here and there, if they had saved a few people from under the rubble, if they had come to the rescue of those people instead of war, maybe so many people would not have been killed from the wreckage. International powers did not prevent this. They did not stop them. Even in such a situation, they bombarded. We condemn those who support this war."
'PEOPLE HAVE BEEN LEFT TO DEATH'
Stating that President Erdogan left the people to die with the insistence of war, Nuriye Atmış, one of the mothers said: "When this earthquake first happened, Erdogan should have called Europe and the whole world for help and solidarity. If he had declared mobilization, maybe there would not have been so many bodies under that rubble. People should show their greatness these days. They stopped the war for a while because of this earthquake. There was an earthquake, but they continued the bombardment. Many people could have been saved if Erdogan had declared the mobilization, but he did not play his role properly. This would not have happened if the money he gave to the war had been allocated to earthquake areas."
'MORE SOLIDARITY'
Stating that the KCK's decision of inaction was an appropriate decision, Emine Ata, one of the Mothers said: "We share the pain of the earthquake regions. The state itself did not work and did not allow the people to help. It used all its power to bombard the mountains of Kurdistan, if it had sent its power to the earthquake areas, there wouldn't be so many deaths. The Kurdish and Turkish people should see this atrocity. There is a need for the alliance of our people against this fragmentation of the state. The war should be ended. The people should form an alliance and show more solidarity with the earthquake areas."
