DİYARBAKIR - Speaking at the protest held in front of the Diyarbakır Courthouse regarding the detentions and arrests in Diyarbakır-centered 21 provinces, Green Left Party MP candidate Mehmet Emin Aktar said: "The aim is to create fear, but we are not afraid, we are here."
The detention operation in Diyarbakır-centered 21 provinces was massively protested in front of the Diyarbakır Courthouse. Provincial organization and MP candidates of the Greens and Left Future Party (Green Left Party), Democratic Party of Rights (HDP), Provincial Organization of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), Lawyers Association for Freedom, Peace Mothers, Free Women's Movement (TJA) and many others representatives of non-governmental organizations attended.
Speaking in the statement, HDP Provincial Co-chair Gülistan Atasoy said: “We are here despite the fact that they have been killing the law for 4 days. In fact, we are used to these dirty scenarios. Just as we have nullified these dirty operations before, we will continue to fail them in the future. We will continue to lose their peace."
Stating that the AKP government panicked with the approach of the general elections that will take place on 14 May, Atasoy said: “Some of them are on fire, they think they can extend their power by launching an operation against the Kurds. You have now come to the end of the road. You will be buried in boxes, there is no escape. The detainees should be released, let the law work. We believe that this struggle, for which we are right, will eventually succeed. The voice of peace, justice and freedom will be heard everywhere.”
'WE ARE NOT FEAR, WE ARE HERE'
Referring to the statements of public anonymous Ümit Akbıyık, Aktar concluded his words as follows: "There are statements of someone whose name we have heard for the first time, but there is no evidence, it is as if the Hadith-i Şerif said it. As a result of these statements, our lawyer friends and other friends were taken. The aim is to create perception and scare the society. But believe me, after the operation performed 4 days ago, the number of our employees increased to 3 or 5 times. Give up, the law is necessary for you, not just us. We have nothing to be ashamed of, we did not run away. We are here to deliver human rights to these people, and these people will respond to what I have said on May 14. We are not afraid, we have not given up, whatever you do, if you are going to let us all in, let us in, we are not afraid, we are here.”
After the speeches, the statement ended with the slogan "Resist, we will win", as well as applause and bells.
