DİYARBAKIR - 48 of the 143 people who were detained just days before the elections were arrested and 91 were released within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.
In line with the statements of Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, open witness Ümit Akbıyık, 48 of the 143 people detained on April 25 as part of the operation involving journalists, politicians, artists and representatives of non-governmental organizations in Diyarbakır-based 21 provinces before the election, were arrested on the grounds that they were "being a member of a terrorist organization" and 89 of them were released. Six people, including lawyer Gülistan Ataş, are still in custody.
The 5 people whose names could not be learned were left in safety after deposition.
