ANKARA- Pointing out that their detention is directly proportional to the deadlock in the Kurdish question, JINNEWS editor Habibe Eren said: "We are being prosecuted for extending a microphone to Kurds, people of different faiths and other segments, which the government ignores."
The trial of 12 journalists, including Mezopotamya Agency (MA) Editor-in-Chief Diren Yurtsever, at the Ankara 4th High Criminal Court continued with the defense of Ceylan Şahinli, Selman Gözelyüz and Habibe Eren.
'CORRUPTION IS INCREASING'
JINNEWS editor Habibe Eren, who took the floor, said: "The reason for ourr arrest is directly related to the conflict process that took place after the end of the resolution process regarding the Kurdish problem. Today, even the way of life is seen as a crime. Corruption is increasing. The journalists who reported this are on trial. One of the most common situations we encountered in the news we made in the field of women is impunity. While the murderers of women are out walking, we are prosecuted for doing journalism. The essence of the constitutions; is human. Journalism provides different discussion environments. We are prosecuted for extending microphones to Kurds, people of different faiths and other segments that the government ignores. All our journalistic activities are the subject of accusations.”
