ŞIRNAK - Three RJAK member women, who were detained by the KDP on the anniversary of the Shengal Massacre, have not been heard from for 13 days. Asking the whereabouts of the RJAK members, the women from Botan demanded that the KDP make a statement.

Kurdistan Free Women's Movement (RJAK) members Xewla Mihemed Hesen, Ciwana Abdulbaqî and Seyran Ehmed, who participated in the commemoration event held in Shengal for the anniversary of the massacre of ISIS against Yazidis on 3 August 2014. The three women were detained by the KDP public order in Hewlêr, the capital of the Federated Kurdistan Region. While no statement has been made by the KDP so far, their families' attempts have also been inconclusive. Asking the whereabouts of the detained women, the women politicians from Botan said that the Kurdish women's struggle was targeted.

TURKEY'S PROTOTYPE

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Şırnak Provincial Co-Chair Sabuha Akdağ, who stated that the Federated Kurdistan Region Administration is the prototype of Turkey with its policies towards women, said that the impunity policy in Turkey is carried out by the KDP in the region. Expressing that the KDP does not recognize women's will, Akdağ said, "The detention of three women on the anniversary of the massacre is certainly not an ordinary thing. Three of our friends were detained and the Kurdish women's struggle was targeted. All this time we have not heard from these women and we are concerned. We condemn the KDP's approach and once again ask the KDP; Where are our three female comrades?”

'KDP IS ACTING LIKE AKP'

Free Women's Movement (TJA) activist Zozan Aksu stated that they are trying to suppress the women's struggle and said, “We must strengthen and organize women against this mentality. The KDP acts like the AKP. Unfortunately, whatever the policy here is, it's similar there. But it should be well known that wherever there is violence and rape against women, we will be against them. The KDP should leave these friends of ours as soon as possible."

'KDP MUST MAKE A STATEMENT'

HDP Cizre District Co-chair Zilan Ecevit said: “What message does the KDP want to give to the Kurdish women's struggle with these detentions? If the KDP represents the Kurdish will, it should act democratically and follow such a policy. We want to know the fate of our three female friends. KDP should inform women about this as soon as possible."
