WAN - Stating that they cannot make a living due to the budget allocated for war, Wan residents pointed to the attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria. “As people are being killed, the country's economy is also dying” they said and pointed to dialogue with Abdullah Öcalan for a solution.

The economic crisis in the country is deepening day by day due to the “security” policies implemented by the AKP-MHP government. Stating that they have difficulty in meeting their basic needs, “As long as the people's budget is spent on the war, there will be no improvement in the economy,” citizens from Wan warned.

'SPENT ON WAR'

Mehmet Çalçıner said: “As it is known, there is always a crisis. Now we only look at our satiety. There is no economy left in the country and everything is free market. People are going through very difficult times and most people cannot even bring bread to their homes. Almost all the income of the country is going to the war budget. Today 9 out of 10 people are unemployed. They talk about a new process. But as long as there are gangs in this country, nothing will improve. We should also be prepared for Bahçeli's words. They may sound sincere but on the other hand they may be after a new game. We also hope that peace will be achieved as soon as possible.”

'IT IS IN ÖCALAN'S HANDS TO SOLVE THE PROBLEMS'

Pointing out that the country's economy has deteriorated due to years of war, “There has been an economic crisis in the country for a long time. The reason for this is the wars that have not ended for years. Especially the wars being waged are a war against the Kurdish people. Consequently, the country's economy is deteriorating. If they stop these wars, there will be a relief throughout the country. Turkish politicians talk about peace, but in the evening they carry out attacks against Rojava and massacre people there. If they really want this war to end and if they are sincere, this war that has been going on for years will end. Of course, Abdullah Öcalan holds the key to this peace. We demand that the government fulfill their promises as soon as possible,” Fadıl Barıştıran said.

'EVERYONE IS BLIND AND DEAF FOR ROJAVA'

Pointing out that if the budget allocated for the war was spent on the country's economy, there would be no problems, Servet Aydın said: “Many people commit suicide because they cannot bring bread to their homes. A little relief came to the country during the solution process. Now bombs are falling again and people are being killed. As people die and are killed, the country's economy also dies. Every day there are protests for Palestine. Are those killed in Rojava not human beings? Why is everyone deaf and blind for Rojava? The statements of Erdoğan and his partner Bahçeli, who talk about peace in the country, do not sound sincere.”

Naime Güneş stated that peace must be achieved as soon as possible. “My husband is retired and trying to make ends meet. The reason for the economic crisis is the current government and the war. The Kurds have never had a say and they have always been persecuted. Our only wish is for peace to be established throughout the country and for Kurds to be given their rights,” she said.

'STEPS MUST BE TAKEN'

A citizen named Esat Eren said the following: “We are having a hard time making a living. In the past, one person used to work in a house and take care of the whole family. But today everything has increased five times. The government claims that there are no economic problems. They talk about peace; if they really sincere, they should take a step that everyone will believe. Because something really needs to change for the better. This process cannot continue like this any longer.”
