NEWS CENTER - Criticizing the air strikes carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces, TEV-DEM Chair Zelal Ceger said: "The Iraqi government that could not protect Shengal will not be able to protect Baghdad tomorrow."

War planes belonging to the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) carried out an air strike against a car en route the other day. While YBŞ commanders Seid Hesen and his niece İsa Xwedêda lost their lives as a result of the attack, three people were injured. Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Kazımî was expected to visit Shengal on the day of the attack. Turkish war planes also shelled Sikîniyê Hospital in Shengal yesterday.

Speaking about the attacks, Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) Co-Chair Zelal Ceger criticized the attitude of the Iraqi government. Underlining that the Kurdish people need to unite more than ever, Ceger said: "We must step up the resistance for Shengal in the face of the Turkish aggression."

'THIS IS THE TRUE COLOUR OF AKP AND ERDOĞAN'

Underlining that the attacks against Shengal shows the true colours of AKP and Erdoğan, Ceger said: "A cowardly and helpless state is bombing a place miles away from itself. It's slaughtering people. The Turkish state is afraid of the resistance of the people. They want to kill more people. This is a great threat for the Kurdish people."

'IRAQI GOVERNMENT AND THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY IS RESPONSIBLE'

Expressing that Turkey does not respect the sovereign rights of neighboring countries, Ceger said, “The Iraqi government has a responsibility to defend Shengal. If it cannot protect Shengal today, it will not be able to protect Baghdad tomorrow. The fact that the Iraqi government did not take a stance against the attacks shows that it is aware of the attacks and is a party to these attacks.  The Turkish state cannot use the airspace of Shengal without the permission of the Iraqi government. These attacks are being carried out in front of the eyes of the whole world. And the world remains silent. All international forces are responsible for these attacks."

'WE NEED TO UNITE'

Calling for the national unity of the Kurdish people, Ceger said: "Turkish state targets Kurdistan as a whole. They want to annihilate the Kurds and their gains. What is expected from the Kurdish people in this situation is unity. We have to unite to protect Shengal. Or this is a threat for all of us."
