RIHA – The Youth Assembly of the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) continues organizing meetings to discuss the “Peace and Democratic Society Process.” Tomorrow, a workshop titled “Democratic Society Workshop with Leading Youth” will be held in Riha (Urfa).
The workshop will begin at 10:00 AM in the conference hall of the Riha Bar Association. Participants will include DEM Party Colemêrg (Hakkari) MP Vezir Coşkun Parlak, writer Namık Kemal Dinç, and members of the DEM Young Women Coordination.
The workshop, consisting of three sessions, will mainly focus on the developments following Kurdish People's Leader Adbullah Öcalan's "Call for Peace and Democratic Society” made on February 27.
TOPICS TO BE DISCUSSED
Berivan Kocaoğlu, member of the DEM Party Riha Young Women’s Assembly, invited all young people to the workshop. She said, “We contacted people for participation and explained Leader Apo’s call and the process. We talked about the aims and importance of democratic society workshops. Young people are hopeful about the process and were insistent on joining.”
Highlighting that drug abuse and prostitution are among the main problems faced by youth due to special warfare policies, Berivan Kocaoğlu stated, “The biggest issue all youth face is special warfare. We know the antidote to special warfare is organization. We approach young people with this understanding. In this sense, the workshop we will hold will be a step towards solving these problems.”
She also noted that discussions on ecological living, women’s freedom, and the construction of a democratic society will take place during the workshop. Kocaoğlu added that they will address the issues young women face and how women can take part in building a democratic society.
CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
Seyit Ahmet Şahin, member of the assembly, said preparations for the workshop continue and made a call: “We would like to see all our people, young friends, and women at the workshop we will hold on July 5.”
