SİİRT - Kaçar family whose on daughter joined the PKK and other family members arrested frequently told that they were forced to participate in the sit in against the HDP in Diyarbakır and the police offered to take them to the operation site to find their daughter there.
Some families who were called in front of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) bu the Ministry of Interior to demand their children, claiming that they were 'kidnapped by the PKK'. These families have been staging a sit in in front of the HDP building since September 3, 2019. Special units established within the security forces of the police and the gendermerie are forcing the families whose children joined the PKK to participate in the sit in, most of the time threatening the families.
THE ORDEAL THE FAMILY HAD TO GO THROUGH
Kaçar family whose daughter joined the PKK in 2009 is among those families. Father Agit Kaçar whose family is frequently subjected to oppression, detentions and arrests, was arrested ibn 2005 and was held in Diyarbakır Type D Closed Prison for three years. Being arrested again in 2008, Kaçar was held in prison with his son Teyfik for 4 months and was later released.
Agit Kaçar's son Tevfik was arrested 10 times so far and spent 5 years in prison. There are still ongoing cases against him. His brother Refik is also going through the same ordeal and has been held in Elazığ No 2 Closed Prison for the last 6 years.
Kaçar, father of three, spoke about the pressure on their family and the police forcing them to participate in the sit in against the HDP.
'THIS IS RIDICULOUS'
Underlining that their house have been raided more than 50 times so far, Kaçar said their door was broken every time and they were tortured as a family. Stating that the fact that the police is trying to persue them to participate in the sit in to ensure the return of his daughter even though the law enforcement has been harassing them all their lives is ridiculous, Kaçar said: "Our doors are still broken because it is raided frequently and they break the door every time. We stopped mending it after a while. Stressing that the police and gendermerie call them frequently to participate in the sit in, Kaçar said: "They called us every three months after that. We repeatedly told them we wouldn't. After a while, we told them we could go to the police station with our lawyers if they will continue to insist, but they told us not to come with a lawyer. We didn't go there."
'WHY AREN'T YOU HELPING?'
Stating that the Provincial Gendarmerie Command called them again 2 months ago, Kaçar said: “My wife answered the phone. When my wife told them that she did not speak Turkish, a relative of ours translated for her. This time they wanted my wife to come alone and she said she won't go. Then they came to our house telling my wife that our daughter is in Gabar and asked for her help. My wife told them she did not know where our daughter is and she can't help."
'THEY OFFERED TO TAKE US TO THE OPERATION SITE'
Noting that 3 days later, the Şırnak Gendarmerie Command called them and tried to persue them to go the the HDP building to protest HDP, Kaçar said: "I told them the people they brought there are liars and they are taking money to sit there. I told them I knew that one of the families who claimed their son was kidnapped by PKK was proven to be liars and their son turned out to be working in a construction site in İstanbul. Then they offered to take me to the operation site where the army clashes with the PKK to find my daughter. They tried to send me to an area they can not go themselves. This is attempted murder."
Kaçar underlined that they will file a criminal complaint against these police officers who offered to take them to the operation site.
