HABER MERKEZİ – Former security intelligence employee, whose narratives continue to be published by Yeni Yaşam newspaper, told how JİTEM cases were blocked. The allegations go back to former Chief of General Staff İlker Başbuğ and Fahri Kasırga, who is currently the Secretary General of the President.
Yeni Yaşam Newspaper published new information about Mehmet Emin Özkan, who was framed with the accusations of being the perpetrator the Lice massacre that started with the assassination of Brigadier General Bahtiyar Aydın on October 22, 1993, and the murder of a former security intelligence employee, who took part in the research units established between 2008-2014 regarding the unsolved murders committed in the 90s in the cities of the region.
According to the article written by Gülcan Dereli, former intelligence officer revealed how the Jitem cases were blocked by naming names. The allegations go back to former Chief of General Staff İlker Başbuğ and Fahri Kasırga, who is currently the Secretary General of the President.
JUDGES THAT ACQUITTED THE DEFENDANTS WERE ASSIGNED TO THE CASES
Stating that at that time, as the JİTEM cases progressed and new information became available, the former intelligence officer said that one of the people who directed the cases was the Undersecretary of the Minister of Justice Kenan İpek. The former intelligence officer said, “He is also aware that the case has been dragged on, and the reason why the Bahtiyar Aydın case was brought to İzmir is Deputy Attorney General Okan Bato. Okan Bato (former İzmir Deputy Chief Public Prosecutor Okan Bato) is the person who arranged the judges in İzmir and acquitted the murderers of JİTEM. Mehmet Emin Özkan's case was first handed over to Eskişehir, then to İzmir, where bespoke judges were assigned to the cases. The case was closed, there were already 2 defendants in the file, Tünay Hatipoğlu was abducted abroad. Then it was said that he died there. I personally don't believe it, an autopsy should be done."
İLKER BAŞBUĞ STEPPED IN
Stating that the JITEM investigations were initiated at the request of the AKP, but were abandoned as the investigations progressed, the former intelligence officer said: “The security intelligence worked specifically for the unsolved murders from 2008 to 2014. The focus was on the unsolved murders. Of course, this was done on the orders of prosecutors. The JİTEM member Colonel Cemal Temizöz Case was the first of these.”
The former intelligence officer continued, “Ilker Başbuğ stepped in. Başbuğ summoned the prosecutor of the time to Ankara along with the elements of the deep state. The prosecutor in the Cemal Temizöz case was first threatened, but it was not enough, he was called to Ankara with an emergency code. At the same time, Başbuğ summoned the Undersecretary of the Minister of Justice to his office.”
MEETING WITH ERTOSUN AT THE FARM
Afterwards, the former intelligence officer expressed how the Cemal Temizöz case was blocked with the following words: “A meeting to disperse these people was held with Erdoğan and the operations started. The Undersecretary of the Minister of Justice and HSYK applied pressure on the cases. Ali Suat Ertosun was a member of the HSYK at the time. Ertosun threatened the prosecutors directly and indirectly, and he did this by meeting with İlker Başbuğ. For example, Başbuğ instructed Ali Aydın, the Commander of JİTEM member Cemal Temizöz, to meet with HSYK member Ali Suat Ertosun. Before the judges were expelled, JİTEM member Ali Aydın (then Kayseri Gendarmerie Commander) hosted HSYK member Ali Suat Ertosun at his farmhouse in Kayseri for 2 days.
The former intelligence officer said, “Of course, this happened while there was an opening, but they underhandedly agreed with Ergenekon. The same work was done for almost all the unsolved murders, but when AKP agreed with Ergenekon, it was left unattended. All of them were acquitted."
FORENSIC MEDICINE AND SPECIAL WAR
Emphasizing the innocence of seriously ill prisoner Mehmet Emin Özkan, who was sentenced to life imprisonment being framed for the Lice incidents, the former intelligence officer said, “Keep him inside, İlker Başbuğ and his team... Because if he is not inside, the case will drop through. A general was killed, but there is no suspect, so they should die inside but never get out."
In addition, the former intelligence officer, who said that the "deep state" is strongest in the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK), said, Mehmet Emin Özkan is 80 percent disabled, sick, at the age of 84, dying, but Forensic Medicine says he's fine... Do you understand who controls the Forensic Medicine? Why it is important? Because it all ends up there. They doctor the forensic report and not be sued. This is their most basic tactic."
