İZMİR - The lawyers stated that they found out that Onur Gencer, who attacked the HDP İzmir building, had called the Provincial Security Directorate 27 times before the attack, and said that this was not normal.

 

Lawyers from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Law Commission and the Izmir Branch of the Lawyers' Association for Freedom held a press conference at a hotel regarding the Deniz Poyraz case and the indictment prepared against the killer. HDP Provincial Co-Chair Abdülkadir Baydur and party executives attended the meeting as well as  lawyers.

 

Speaking at the press conference, lawyer Türkan Aslan Ağaç said that the prosecutor's office carrying out the investigation and the law enforcement under his command agreed in great harmony not to investigate the murder. Noting that the law enforcement forces were in "great weakness" before and since the incident took place, Agac said, "The lack of intelligence regarding the attempted armed attack against Turkey's third largest party in Turkey's third largest city, the late response of the law enforcement in the heart of the city center, many problems were experienced in the incident. It is possible to give examples of the fact that although the law enforcement unit was there, they negligently did not intervene in the incident at the time and the fact that the crime scene investigation did not do its job with due diligence. However, when similar incidents are examined, it would be a very benevolent approach to think that this weakness, which is almost common to all of them, is a coincidence.”

 

'BAG WAS NOT REPORTED'

 

Emphasizing that no investigation was initiated against the police even for the crime of neglecting of duty, Agac reminded that the crime scene investigation was not carried out in detail, and upon their request, a bullet core was found in the investigation carried out on 22 June. Stating that the items found in the assailant's bag were not recorded with a separate report, Ağaç said, "They did not wrote in the report that there was a bag and what was in it. It must be explained otherwise it will cause a perception that the evidence were destroyed. We also demand to know what happened to his phone and who have been using it. But the prosecutor's office did not take action."

 

'HE CALLED THE POLICE STATION 27 TIMES'

 

The report of historical traffic search (HTS) showed that Gencer called the İzmir Provincial Security Directorate 27 times before he attacked the HDP building and told that he frequency of these calls and the dates he made these called was striking was said in the statement. Whom he called inside the police station is of great importance. We would like it to be determined and and we would be informed about it. 

 

HIS TIES WITH GREYWOLVES

 

Stating that the indictment was prepared by ignoring the political dimension of the incident, Ağaç stated that the attacker's relationship with the criminal organizations and structures established within the state was not investigated. Noting that the photos on the attacker's social media accounts in which he makes the greywolves hand sign, Agac said, "In our research on the social media accounts of the people in the HTS records, it is seen that the overwhelming majority of the people with whom he is in contact are people who express themselves as nationalists. However, no research or examination has been carried out regarding his contacts. Considering Turkey's political past, it is well known that most of the political murders were committed by criminal organizations and structures embedded in the state, using people they chose from this background.
