ANKARA- HDP made a statement regarding the World Kobanê Day and said, "Yesterday, ISIS failed, and those with the same goals with ISIS, will fail like ISIS."

 

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Central Executive Board (MYK) made a written statement regarding the 1 November World Kobanê Day.

 

The statement which underlines that 7 years have passed since the epic resistance and the victory, continues as follows: "The people of Kobanê have rewritten the history of freedom in the 21st century with their unmatched resistance for 133 days against the attacks that tried to plunge the whole world into darkness, starting from the Middle East. The fight against ISIS was the inevitable confrontation between freedom and barbarism, darkness and light, democracy and despotism.

 

'THE RESISTANCE WENT DOWN IN HISTORY' 

 

While international and regional powers were defeated one by one in the face of the brutality of ISIS, cities like Mosul fell in one day; Despite all their impossibilities, the Kurdish people went down in history with the strength they drew from their faith, their resistance and devotion to freedom. All the people of the world who want equality and freedom, whose hearts beat with the people of Kobanê, witnessed and admired this struggle. At the same time, the Kobanê resistance aroused the conscience of humanity, until no one could remain merely a spectator to the resistance. World Solidarity Day with Kobanê was declared on November 1, 2014, with the call of hundreds of thousands of people who took action, especially Nobel Peace Prize winners, academics, intellectuals, writers and democratic mass organizations.

 

'A TORCH OF RESISTANCE'

 

As the HDP we salut the hope that grew in Kobané, the victory of humanity, the torch of resistance that destroyed the darkness of ISIS and the internationalist solidarity of the people of the world. We know that the darkness of ISIS lives in others even though ISIS was defeated. This historic battle between the light and the darkness continues. The partners of ISIS are still on fire with the desire of revenge and they want to achieve what ISIS could not achieve.

 

The conspiracy trial launched 6 years later on the grounds of the AKP government's threats of attacks against North East Syria and the solidarity protests against our party with Kobanê is the expression of this vengeance.

Yesterday, ISIS failed, and those with the same goals with ISIS, will fail like ISIS. This historic victory will continue to inspire the peoples of the world. The Kobanê revolution, which came to life as a women's revolution, will continue to exist by getting stronger against monism and male-dominated mentality. As we celebrate the 1st November, the World Day of Solidarity with Kobanê, we once again emphasize that we stand with the resisting peoples of the world. We expect the same awareness and solidarity from the whole world against the new threats of attack against the peoples of Kobanê and North East Syria.”
