DİYARBAKIR - It has been stated that effective remorse law was imposed on 30-year-old prisoner Metin Güven, whose release was postponed twice despite completing the term of his prison sentence.

 

Metin Güven, who was tried at the State Security Court (DGM) after he was detained in the Silvan district of Diyarbakır in 1992, was sentenced to 36 years (life sentence) for "destroying the unity and integrity of the state". Although Güven had completed 30 years of his sentence on April 30, his execution was postponed twice, for 3 months, because he did not accept the imposition of "regret" by the Prison Administrative Observation Board (IGK).

 

Güven's first execution was suspended on April 30 and the second on July 20 by the Prison Administrative Monitoring Board.

 

 GÜVEN WAS ASKED WHETHER HE REGRETED OR NOT

 

Speaking with his family on the phone on October 13, Güven stated that he was informed that he would be taken to the Prison Administrative Observation Board again on Friday. Güven stated that before this meeting, the prison director asked him the questions that he learnt a lesson for himself in the 6 months he was not released and whether he regretted it or not.

 

Güven replied to these questions that he has been inside for 30 years and he has not done anything to regret and also He has not regretted and will not regret this 6-month period.”
