URFA- Stating that Turkey has activated ISIS cells in some regions, PYD Presidential Committee member Foza Yusif said: "A war that may take place will not be like the war in Afrin or Serêkanîyê."

After Turkey launched a new attack on the cities of Northern and Eastern Syria on November 19, 2022, it made official contact with the Syrian regime in Moscow. During the meeting held on December 28, 2022 under the guarantor of Russia, Defense Minister Hulusi Akar and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Head Hakan Fidan, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu and Syrian Defense Minister Ali Mahmud Abbas came together. After this meeting, Turkey's attacks on the region increased. After the attacks, ISIS activity took place in Raqqa and Deir Zor, where the prisons and camps where ISIS are located. While condemning the talks in Syrian cities under Turkish control were rising, Syrian President Bashar Assad made a statement that “there will be no talks until Turkey leaves the occupied areas.” While the foreign ministers of the two countries are expected to meet under the guarantee of Russia, SDF General Commander Mazlum Abdi made the statement that "Turkey can attack by land”.

Foza Yusif, a member of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) Presidency Committee, made evaluations to the Mesopotamia Agency (MA) about the developments in the region and possible attacks.

'TURKEY AND ISIS MOVE IN PARALLEL'

Stating that Turkey's attacks against the region continue, Yusif said: "The people of the region and vehicles in the region have been targeted with the drones(SİHA) recently. Turkey's attacks continue in this way towards the autonomous administration and the people of the region; besides, with the increase in Turkey's attacks, ISIS has also mobilized. According to the information we have received, there is joint work between ISIS and the Turkish MIT. In places where the Turkish state is not active. It is clear that ISIS has been active in Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor and many other places recently. It has activated ISIS cells in areas such as Til Hemis and Til Berak; therefore, Turkey and ISIS are conducting operations in parallel. The Turkish state and ISIS attack the region that the Turkish state is from above, and ISIS is from their secret cells.”

'THE PROBABILITY OF ATTACK DID NOT The probability of attack did not disappear'

Stating that all political and social institutions in the region were working due to the attack of Turkey, Yusif said: "Our work continues in the field to prevent these attacks. The Turkish state, Erdogan and the Bahçeli government want to attack our region to win the elections. This possibility has not disappeared yet. In all areas, the people of the region are preparing against these attacks."

'THERE IS A POSSIBILITY OF ATTACK'

Pointing to the possibility of a possible attack by Turkey, Yusif said: "There is always the possibility of an attack by Turkey until the elections. Erdogan is in a very difficult situation right now. He can do anything to win this election. Erdogan needs a victory. He will win the support of nationalist sections when he attacks here. But this time, a war that can take place will not be like the war in Afrin or Serêkanîyê. It will be a war of existence and non-existence for us in every sense. It is not a situation to take a step back. Everyone needs to make their calculations accordingly. We have no other way but victory. This will turn into a war of destiny for us. This is how we approach it. We hope that no one will miscalculate. The end of this war will reveal very different results."
