XANTHI - Kurdish refugees in Xanthi Immigrant Detention Center started a rotating hunger strike against the Imrali isolation.

In the Immigrant Detention Center in Xanthi, Greece, Kurdish refugees Mehmet Bilgeç, Mahmut Güler, Gökhan Doğubey, Welat Kaya, Ramazan Tekmen, Şükrü Öztürk and Murat Şahin started a rotating hunger strike. Kurdish refugees made a statement about the action launched in solidarity with the prisoners who have been on hunger strike in prisons in Turkey and Kurdistan since November 27, within the scope of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign, saying that PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan has been on İmralı Island for 25 years. He stated that he was held in severe isolation conditions in , and that the destruction and denial of the Kurdish people was aimed in the person of Abdullah Öcalan.

In the statement, which drew attention to the state of not receiving any news for 33 months due to the blocking of family and lawyer visits, it was said: "We, as political refugees who had to seek asylum in Greece as a result of the increasing fascism in Kurdistan and are detained in Xanthi (Xanthi), hereby condemn the isolation imposed on Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. We respectfully salute the resistance launched by all PKK and PAJK prisoners held hostage in dungeons against isolation."

Kurdish refugees noted that their protests, which they started on December 15, will continue temporarily and alternately until February 15, 2024.
