AMED - Political parties and democratic mass organizations announced that they will launch a "Great Freedom March" between February 1-15, demanding the abolishing of the Imralı isolation and the solution of the Kurdish issue and the freedom of Abdullah Ocalan.

It was announced that a march would be launched in Amed to demand the abolishing of the absolute isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan, who is held in İmralı Type F High Security Closed Prison, and to ensure Ocalan's physical freedom for the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue. People's Democratic Congress (HDK) Co-Spokesperson Cengiz Çiçek, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chairs Keskin Bayındır and Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar, and People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) deputies attended the statement held at a hotel in the city. In addition, representatives of many political parties, democratic mass organizations and institutions also attended the statement. A banner reading "We March for Freedom, Dem dema azadiyê (Time for Freedom)" was hung in the hall where the statement was made.

75 PEOPLE WILL TAKE PART IN THE MARCH

DEM Party Mêrdîn Deputy Beritan Güneş Altın stated that 75 human rights activists will take part in the march. DBP Co-Chair Keskin Bayındır read the text in Kurdish titled "We are starting a freedom march to break the Imralı isolation and for the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue." It was emphasized that the march will start on February 1 and will continue until February 15, the 25th anniversary of the international conspiracy against PKK Leader Ocalan.

'THERE HAS BEEN NO NEWS FROM OCALAN FOR 1037 DAYS'

The full text of the statement is as follows: "The absolute isolation imposed on Mr. Ocalan, whom the Kurds, especially the people of Turkey and the Middle East, see as a determinant in the struggle for equality, justice and freedom, has entered its 25th year. Mr. Ocalan, who has been held in absolute for 2 years and 10 months. In other words, no direct or indirect information has been received for 1037 days. Absolute isolation practices have no place in Turkey's domestic law and international law, and they also have no moral, conscientious or humanitarian aspect. The Imralı isolation system is the center of the policies of liquidating the freedom struggle of the Kurds. Absolute isolation in Kurdistan  means occupying, dehumanizing and colonizing the geography with war policies. At the current stage, it is not limited to Kurds and Kurdistan only, it has turned into a tool of pressure and domination on the whole society. The policy of absolute lack of communication (incommunicado) in Imralı has left Turkey with economic, social and political crises at everywhere, it was drawn into the vortex of regional conflict triggered by imperial ambitions. In this critical period, one of the most important ways to get rid of crises and regional wars is the abolition of the Imralı isolation system and Mr. Ocalan's physical freedom.

FREEDOM OF OCALAN IS THE SOLUTION TO THE KURDISH ISSUE

Isolation means imprisoning the Kurdish issue in a deadlock. It is the economic, cultural, social and political colonization of the people of the country and the region by capitalist modernity and nation states in a spiral of deadlock, conflict and war. Mr. Ocalan's physical freedom means a peaceful, democratic solution to the Kurdish issue. The following words of Mr. Ocalan in 2010 prove how critical physical freedom is for the construction of the free life of the people: 'You can live outside only on one condition, and that is to fight twenty-four hours a day for the existence and freedom of Kurds and Turkish workers under capitalism. It is possible to be.'

Unless the Imralı system of absolute isolation, which is unique in history, the people will not be able to breathe and will not be able to find solutions to their issues through democratic means. In order to get out of this state of war and the crisis of capitalist modernity that Turkey and the Middle East have been dragged into, Mr. Ocalan's ideas, suggestions and direction regarding the solution are needed more than ever. Despite the fact that Imralı has been turned into a system of absolute oblivion, ignoring and torture, the people of the region and the world, the democratic public opinion, see their political solution in Mr. Ocalan. For this reason, his objection to the conditions in which he is held grows louder every day. As a result of these objections, the 'Freedom for Abdullah Ocalan, Democratic Solution to the Kurdish Issue' protests, which were launched in 74 centers around the world on October 10, 2023, continue to become widespread.

THE GREAT FREEDOM MARCH IS BEGINNING

As Kurdistan politicians, women, youth, intellectuals and human rights defenders, we salute this global action process initiated by our friends; We declare that we will start our 'Great Freedom March' in the cities and districts of Kurdistan from February 1 until February 15, the anniversary of the International Conspiracy against Mr. Ocalan. The aim of our action is to establish Mr. Ocalan's other legal rights, especially the views of his lawyer and family, and to ensure his physical freedom for the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue. We will not stop until the Imralı isolation system is abolished and the dirty schemes set up around the Kurdish issue are dismantled. We take this opportunity to state once again that we will not remain silent about these illegal and inhumane practices in İmralı; We call on all our friends, especially our people, and the democratic public to unite around our action. Victory will belong to those who set out for freedom!
