ŞIRNEX - Great Freedom Marchers, who reached the Botan region, commemorated those who were massacred in the bombardment of fighter aircrafts in Roboskî.

The "Great Freedom March", which set out for the freedom of PKK Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the democratic solution to the Kurdish issue, visited the Roboskî Cemetery in the Qileban (Uludere) district of Şirnex (Şırnak). Roboskî families welcomed the delegation with photographs of their relatives who lost their lives in the Roboskî Massacre. Freedom marchers greeted families one by one and went to the cemetery.

CALL TO MOTHERS OF SOLDIERS: LET'S SAY ENOUGH

After the march with the slogans "Şehit namirin (Martyrs do not die)", prayers were first read at the cemetery. Speaking in the statement made afterwards, Halime Encu said that justice has not come to Roboskî and Kurdistan for 13 years. Saying that there must be no more massacres, Encu said: “We all want peace, justice and unity. Why did you commit this massacre? What sin did 34 people commit? It is enough. We call out to the mothers of police and soldiers. We call out to all Kurd mothers. Come and give your hand to us. No more massacres. We want peace, freedom, unity. Mothers' pain and tears are the same. Let's all join hands. Let's just say that's enough.”

'WE WILL NOT FORGET, WE WILL NOT LET IT BE FORGOTTEN'

DEM Party Deputy Sumeyye Boz, who took the floor afterwards, stated that they have been on the road for 4 days and that their march will continue until February 15. Stating that they are on the roads to prevent a massacre like Roboskî from happening again, Boz said: “This march is to prevent massacres, oppression and cruelty. That's why this march will continue until peace, freedom and unity come, and it will reach its goal. With our mothers here, we commemorated those who lost their lives as if it were that day. Even if a hundred years pass, we will not forget this massacre, we will not let it be forgotten."

'THERE MUST BE DIALOGUE'

Noting that they will always remember those who lost their lives in the massacre, Boz said: “There were 34 people here, 19 of whom were children. The Turkish state's F-16s bombed and massacred them. Massacres never stopped in Kurdistan and their perpetrators were rewarded with impunity. No one must lose their lives in massacres like Vartinis and Roboskî anymore. Let peace and freedom come to these lands. For this purpose, the path put forward by Mr. Ocalan for the solution of the Kurdish issue must be discussed and there must be dialogue."

After the speeches, roses were left on the graves. Families from Roboskî cleaned their snow-covered graves and read prayers together with the delegation for their relatives.

Freedom marchers moved to Qıleban (Uludere) district.
