ANKARA - Prisoner in the Kobanê Case Aynur Aşan, has been subjected to a disciplinary investigation in the prison to which she was forcibly transferred because she objected to strip searches.
Prisoner sentenced for the Kobanê Trial Aynur Aşan was forced to undergo a strip search. Aşan, who was imprisoned in Ankara Sincan Women's Closed Prison, petitioned the prison administration to be transferred to the prison in Mersin's Tarsus district because she could not visit her sick mother. However, on October 19, Aşan stated that she was forcibly taken out of prison and was not informed about where she would be taken, and was taken to Antalya Type L Closed Prison.
On October 25, Aşan met with his lawyers and stated that she was subjected to strip searches in Antalya Type L Prison.
DISCIPLINARY INVESTIGATION OPENED FOR OPPOSING
Aşan is currently in Izmir Women's Closed Prison. She met with her lawyers on October 25 in İzmir and stated that she had written a petition to be transferred to Mersin's Tarsus district because her sick mother could not come to Ankara, but that she was forcibly removed from prison on October 19 and transferred to another prison without informing her.
Aşan stated that she was threatened by the guards for objecting to strip searches and that she felt ill in the room where she was held for about an hour, yet she was not removed from the room. Aşan stated that she was taken to Izmir Women's Closed Prison after a while and that her petition for Tarsus was ignored. Aşan said that she was also subjected to disciplinary proceedings for opposing strip searches.
PETITION TO PARLIAMENT
DEM Party Group Deputy Chairpersons Gülistan Kılıç Koçyiğit and Sezai Temelli submitted a parliamentary question to the Presidency of the Parliament for the Ministry of Justice to answer. The motion asked whether the guards who imposed strip searches were identified, whether an administrative and judicial investigation was initiated against them, and the reason for the investigation.
APPLICATION TO HUMAN RIGHTS INVESTIGATION COMMISSION
Newroz Uysal Aslan, Kamuran Tanhan and Beritan Güneş Altın, members of the DEM Party's Human Rights Investigation Commission (İHİK), made an application to the Commission. The application drew attention to the legislation on searches and pointed out that the legislation is arbitrarily regulated and paves the way for searches without concrete facts and events.
In the statement, it was stated that although there should be strict conditions for searches with strong protectors against the arbitrary attitude of the administration, there is no such regulation, and that prisoners' demands to go to provinces close to their families, the hospital where they are being treated or the court where they are on trial should be met.
In the application, it was demanded that administrative and criminal investigations should be initiated against public officials regarding the ill-treatment of prisoner Aşan and that she should be visited in Izmir Women's Closed Prison.
