MERSİN - The trustee protest in front of Akdeniz Municipality continued on its 11th day.
The vigil against the appointment of trustees to the Akdeniz Municipality in Mersin continued on its 11th day. With the participation of Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) MPs, Peace Mothers and civil society organizations, a statement was made in front of the municipality building under police blockade.
DEM Party Provincial Co-Chair Bedriye Kuş said, "We will protect our will and continue to resist until our co-mayors and council members elected by the will of the people regain their freedom and return to their duties. We are not afraid, we will win."
Former CHP Mersin MP Serdal Kuyucuoğlu said, "There is the Palace of Justice to our right, but people no longer believe that there is justice. No one can stand against the will of the people. The people decide. The state respects the people's decision. But today Turkey is ruled under a one-man regime. The will of the people will destroy these antidemocratic practices. The people of Turkey will win again."
After the speeches, the vigil ended with a sit-in protest.
