SÊRT - Stating that the Sêrt trustee unlawfully dismissed 35 workers, General Labor Sêrt Branch Chair Adnan Toprak called for a struggle against the decision.
A statement was made in front of the municipality against the dismissal of 35 workers by Sêrt trustee Kemal Kızılkaya. The statement made by the Sêrt Branch of the General Services Labor Union (Genel-İş) affiliated to the Confederation of Revolutionary Trade Unions (DISK) was attended by DEM Party Sêrt MP Sabahat Erdoğan Sarıtaş, Sêrt Municipality Co-Mayors Sofya Alağaş and Mehmet Kaysi, Sêrt Labour and Democracy Platform, DBP, DEM Party Sêrt Provincial Organisation executives and the dismissed people.
General Labor Sêrt Branch Chair Adnan Toprak stated that the dismissal of 35 labourers working for Siirt Municipality Personnel Joint Stock Company without any concrete justification and in violation of the law and the basic principles of working life is a usurpation of rights.
Stressing that making accusations against the dismissed workers such as being "connected to terrorism" violates the presumption of innocence, Toprak said, "If such an allegation is made against any person without a judicial decision, this is clearly an offence of slander. In a state of law, criminal allegations are determined by the courts, not by politically motivated administrative decisions."
Stating that they will make legal applications against arbitrary and unlawful dismissals and will continue their struggle.
