ŞIRNEX - Stating that they will continue their struggle until the process succeeds women said, "Abdullah Öcalan must be physically free as soon as possible."
In Silopi district of Şirnex (Şırnak), a rally was held on March 7 under the slogan “We rebel against the massacre of women, we march to freedom” on March 8 International Women's Day, led by the Free Women's Movement (Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA). Women participating in the rally made evaluations on Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan's "Call for Peace and Democratic Society” and emphasized their determination to increase the struggle.
Stating that the call gives them hope, Leyla Ayaz said, “We are happy about the call and hope that it will lead to the release of political prisoners. We want an environment where neither guerrilla nor soldier mothers cry anymore and where there are homecomings. We are happy about the call for peace and the state should take steps. Women need to raise their voices and struggle in every field in light of these developments. We must say that the process will not proceed unilaterally. We have full hope for good days.”
'ÖCALAN MUST BE FREE'
Makbule Asa said that they are in the field because of their belief in the days when peace and tranquility will prevail and said, “Let them hold the hand raised for peace. We want our identity. We want the guerrillas to return home and for the bloodshed to stop. We came here for peace and we hope for a solution to the Kurdish issue. There are states talking about peace in many parts of the world. We don't want anyone to be killed anymore. We want a world where mothers do not cry. How long will this war last? Enough is enough. We have gathered here for Abdullah Öcalan's call and for our people. Abdullah Öcalan needs to regain his physical freedom as soon as possible.”
Kazê Cin underlined that Abdullah Öcalan's physical freedom must be ensured for the process to reach a conclusion and said, “We don't want wars anymore. Women want peace and their language.”
'WE ARE IN THE FIELDS UNTIL THERE IS PEACE'
Güllü Demir also said, “We have thousands of prisoners in prisons. Among them there are those who have completed 26 years and we want them to be released. They talk about peace, but they have not taken any steps. Some families have 3 and some have 4 children in prison. How long will this continue? The PKK has entered a ceasefire period but as you can see nothing has changed. We want Abdullah Öcalan to be released as soon as possible and to enter the parliament. The state has also made this call. But no concrete step has been taken yet. The practice of the state authorities should be towards peace. Women are constantly demanding peace in the fields. We will raise our voices in the fields until peace is realized.”
'WE TRUST ABDULLAH ÖCALAN'
Hatice Yiğit emphasized that women should take more responsibility and be involved in the process to ensure peace and said, “We are behind Abdullah Öcalan as long as we live. The state is not taking any steps, we trust Abdullah Öcalan. As Kurds, we need to ensure our unity.”
Pakistan Armağan said, “We want peace and Abdullah Öcalan to be free. All four parts want Abdullah Öcalan to be free. I hope the state will take a step. We came here today for our children. Some people's children and siblings have lost their lives, their villages have been burned. People now want to return to their villages.”
