NEWS CENTER - Asrin Law Office announced that Abdullah Ocalan said: "The right to hope is a step that the state must take. This is an issue that affects thousands of people."
Asrin Law Office made a written statement regarding their visit with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan and other prisoners in İmralı on 13 October 2025.
The statement reads: "On 13 October 2025, we had a meeting with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan and our other clients on İmralı Island Prison as their lawyers. During this visit, we shared information about the conditions and legal status of our clients. We would like to share Mr Ocalan's thoughts and evaluations on the establishment of peace with the valuable public opinion.
During the meeting, the legal status of Mr Ocalan was one of the prioritised and important topics of discussion in the context of the European Court of Human Rights' ruling on the right to hope. As it is known, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe had called on Turkey again after its last session on 15-17 September and demanded a legal solution to the right to hope in line with the ECtHR judgment.
In the face of this development, Mr Ocalan emphasised that the right to hope is very important and fundamental. He emphasized the necessity of law and said; 'The right to hope is a step that the state must take. It must remove this baggage. This is an issue that affects thousands of people. No matter how you look at it, it must be removed. This needs to be done in terms of law. Politics and justice both require this.'
INTEGRATION LAW
On 27 February, in connection with the Call for Peace and Democratic Society, he stated that everyone has the right to express their nationality and live freely, just as beliefs and sects have the right to express themselves freely. He said that the Kurds should be included in the law as a whole and stated that this is the real peace. He explained that until today the Kurdish law has been ignored and kept outside the law, but today the law of democratic integration must be built.
Explaining the exclusion from the law and physical and mental imprisonment, he said: 'Life is meaningful if it is lived freely. I have expressed it before: 'O life, I will either live you free or I will consider you as never lived.' This is my life motto, this is my slogan.'
THE SOURCE OF SOCIAL AND POLITICAL PROBLEMS
It is well known that Mr Öcalan believes the main cause of social and political problems is the inequality between women and men. He has stated that the solution to this inequality is possible through a socialist thought and a women's liberationist life practice. She stated that she followed the work of Jineolojî with interest and attached great value to it and conveyed her special greetings to all women and prisoners in prison.
INVITATION TO THE PROCESS
He invited those who want to understand him to deepen and participate in the peace and democratic society process we are going through. He expressed the importance of working for freedom in terms of the development and practicalisation of the process."
