İZMİR - İzmir Living Areas Platform has applied for the cancellation of the "urgent expropriation" decision taken on 511 parcels of land in Çeşme and Urla.

Through their lawyers, İzmir Living Areas Platform members have applied for the cancellation of the "rush expropriation" decision regarding 511 parcels of land those of which consists of 333 parcels of land in Zeytineli District of Urla and 178 parcels of land in Alaçatı District of Çeşme district of İzmir. The members of the platform made a press statement in front of İzmir District Court after the submission of their petitions.

'THE LANDS OF THE PEOPLE ARE APPROPRIATED BY THE STATE POWER'

İlyas Yaman read the statement on behalf of the Platform. "This project will enable someone to get rich on the Peninsula. While they get richer over the lands appropriated by state power, the local people will suffer great losses and become impoverished" said Yaman in the statement. Yaman also stated that they will continue raise the struggle de facto and juristically.

'THE JUDICIARY SHOULD CANCEL THIS FOR THE PUBLIC WELFARE'

Lawyer Senih Özay, who stated that they are here to emphasize that the decision of expropriation has been taken against the law, said, “We have filed our suit and hopefully they will notice the mistake they have made. We will continue our struggle with hope."

Lawyer Murat Fatih Ülkü stated that they want to know what İzmir Metropolitan Municipality's attitude towards this practice will come out to be. Lawyer Muzaffer Çevrim underlined that these decisions, which are claimed to be in the public welfare have nothing to do with the public welfare and he finished his statements as follows: “We filed the suit and we hope that the authorities in the judiciary will consider public interest and cancel these applications as soon as possible."
