MARDIN - Stating that the AKP-KDP's plans for the Federated Kurdistan Region failed, Journalist Deniz Aydın said that disagreements began within the KDP.
The attacks on the Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna regions of the Federal Kurdistan Region, which continue on the 28th day, continues with heavy clashes and losses of Turkish soldiers. Zap, which turned into a syndrome for the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), which could not make progress, also caused crises within the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), which cooperated with the AKP. KDP, whose cooperation was described as "betrayal" by the Kurds, began to suffer the same fate as the AKP. The condemnations to the Barzani family's involvement in the attacks led to disagreements within the KDP. Journalist Deniz Aydın, who closely follows the developments in the region, evaluated the attacks on the Federated Kurdistan Region and the crisis that started within the KDP, said that the crack in the KDP would lead to an explosion in the future.
TURKEY'S PLANS HAVE FAILED
Pointing out that Turkey aims to create a buffer zone with the attacks, Aydın said that the comprehensive attack that has been going on in the region for more than a year in this context, are concentrated in the Zap region today. Expressing that Turkey's plans for the region failed, Aydın said, "Turkey invested all its strength in this war, but it was not successful. It continued during the winter, but it did not turn out as Turkey wanted. Turkey had to withdraw from the hills it settled in within a year."
DANGEROUS GAME FOR KDP
Pointing out that the KDP-Turkey cooperation has a history dates back to 50 years ago and that it is openly maintained today, Aydın said that in this context, the soldiers of the TAF were deployed to the region by the KDP. Aydın said, “The KDP participated in this war very actively. There were occasional provocations. Therefore, it is possible to say that there is a very tense atmosphere because the KDP is currently actively participating in this war. KDP forces are being reinforced over Sheladize. In this sense, it has mobilized all its forces. We do not know what will happen if it goes like this, but the KDP is in a very dangerous game.”
HOSPITALS TURNED INTO MILITARY BASES
Stating that the KDP, together with its special forces which are the Zêrewanî and Gulan forces, acted independently of the Peshmerga Ministry, Aydın said that the forces affiliated with the TAF also carried out intelligence activities in the region wearing the uniforms of the special forces affiliated with the KDP. Mentioning that mobile hospitals have been established in the region, Aydın said that these bases are not only used for intelligence purposes but also for attack purposes.
KDP IMITATES AKP
Stating that the KDP is waging a war against the opposition, Aydın said, “In a way, it implements the harsh policy of the AKP in the region. In this sense, the KDP imitates the AKP and implements a very harsh policy. KDP not only arrests the people opposing to it, but also carrying out assasinations against activists and intellectuals. In this sense, the KDP has created an empire of fear.”
CRACKS IN KDP
Stating that the condemnations against the KDP have increased despite all the pressure, Aydın said, “Despite all this pressure, the people still condemn the attacks. There are also condemnations from the PUK, the Goran Movement, and even from within the KDP. There is a crack in the KDP. It is not reflected to the public because of the pressures of the KDP but it will come to light eventually in the future. People are aware that the attitude of the Barzani family puts the gains of the South Kurdistan in danger."
TURKEY THREATS IRAQ
Underlining that the attacks pose serious dangers for the Federated Kurdistan Region, Aydın said that this situation also threatens different regions of Iraq. Expressing that all the gains of the Federated Kurdistan Region are in danger and that the PKK is trying to protect these gains, Aydın said: “If steps are not taken in terms of politics and diplomacy, Turkey will continue to pursue these policies. Maybe the plans didn't work out today, but it's putting new plans into action. More concrete steps should be taken. Iraq also had reactions in this sense, but it is not concrete enough. Turkey currently does comply with its own laws within the scope of its Ottomanism policy. Currently, it has increased its military strength in Kurdistan 2-3 times. It deployed all its military forces here. It interferes with the surrounding villages. There are attempts to change the demographics. It's backing up the gangs. These will have very serious consequences.”
THE OPPOSITION SEES THE DANGER
Stating that the opposition in the Federated Kurdistan Region did not take any concrete steps, Aydın said, “In this sense, their concerns are very serious. Although it does not have a concrete reflection at the moment, it is seen that it will reflect in a much more organised way in the upcoming days. They talk about it very often."
