İZMİR - Ill prisoner Abdullah Ece died in Çiğli State Hospital, where he was being treated for Coronavirus.

 

Abdullah Ece, a 73-year-old ill prisoner in Izmir Buca Kırıklar Closed Prison, passed away. Ece was diagnosed with Covid-19 on April 5 in prison. It was learned that Ece, who was admitted to  hospital when his condition worsened passed away this morning.

 

His family said that Ece has been treated in the intensive care unit of Çiğli State Hospital since April 18. Since Ece's had less than a year to serve in prison, he was supposed to be released by the Administrative and Observation Board in June 2021 according to law. However despite the prison's good conduct report, he was not released.

 

Ece's body will be taken to Bana village of Güçlükonak district of Şırnak to be laid to rest.
