NEWS CENTER - The isolation against PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Afrin was protested with a march.
In the Afrin region of Northern and Eastern Syria, Kongra Star organised a march to protest the isolation imposed on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and to commemorate Haki Karer, who passed away in May. Hundreds of Afrin and Shehba residents participated in the march. The march started at the village entrance. Posters of Öcalan and banners condemning the isolation were held during the march. The march ended in front of the Martyrs' Families Council.
Speaking after the ceremony, Afrin Kongra Star Coordination member Hêvî Silêman condemned the isolation imposed on Öcalan and said, "The purpose of the isolation is to cut off relations between Leader Apo and the people. Those who implement this isolation should know that he lives within us. We live according to his philosophy. Öcalan means freedom for us."
Fatima Cemo, a member of the Shehba Free Women's Union, said: "The invading Turkish state continues its hostile plans and exploitation projects, and violates all humanitarian and legal laws."
The demonstration ended with slogans about the demand of Öcalan's release.
