NEWS CENTER - It has been stated that Turkey has settled a group of Syrian refugees in Girê Spî in Northern and Eastern Syria.
Turkey started to settle refugees in the regions under its control in Northern and Eastern Syria. While it is stated that Turkey wants to change the demographic structure of the cities, the Kurds are condemning this situation. According to the report published by the Afrin-Syrian Human Rights Organisation on May 14, the first group of 100 Syrian refugees brought from Homs, Aleppo, Idlib and Eastern Ghouta was sent to the Girê Spi canton under the control of Turkey and the groups affiliated with it.
THE REFUGEES WERE SETTLED IN TWO NEIGHBORHOODS
According to information received from sources in Girê Spî, refugees were settled in the homes of Kurds who were forcibly displaced in Lel and Îskan districts. It has been stated that the construction of houses in the western parts of the canton has accelerated, while it was reported that the owners of the houses near the Elem checkpoint were also told to leave their homes during the resettlement of the refugees.
It was stated that no statement was made regarding the refugees to avoid public condemnation. According to the information received, Turkey promised to give refugees houses and a guarantee that they can visit Turkey 4 times a year if they reside in the houses built for them.
