AMED - Mother Rükiye Şık, who lost her son Muhammed Şık in the Kobanê resistance, condemned Turkey's attacks and said: "The Kurdish people have protected Kobanê. We are ready to do whatever we can for Kobanê.”

Rükiye Şık, the mother of Rênas Karaz (Muhammed Şık), who lost her life during the ISIS attack on Kobanê on September 10, 2014, condemned Turkey's air strikes.

Stating that her son Mohammed always took care to speak in his mother tongue and joined the Kobanê resistance when he was a student in Hatay, Şık said: “At that time, we went to Suruç, which is the border to Kobanê. I was able to talk to my son Muhammed on the phone several times. He told us on the phone that ISIS was killing people without caring old, young and women, the people of Kobanê were an oppressed people and they would fight against ISIS. I was at the border for 16 days. I wanted to cross the border many times, but the soldiers prevented solidarity with our children. If they had not prevented the mass, perhaps our children would not have been martyrs. But they cut us off with tanks. For 46 days, Muhammed fought against ISIS in Kobanê. They were fighting not only against ISIS, but also against those who protect and support ISIS. At the border, we all saw how Turkey greeted and supported the ISIS members."

'DON'T GIVE MY REMAINS TO ISIS'

Reminding that many young resistance fighters lost their lives in that process, mother Şık said: "We received the news that my son passed away on the 46th day of the fight against ISIS's barbarism (November 1). ISIS had intensified the war and my son told us that we should not call him those days, he may not answer. He stated that only 10 percent of Kobanê remained. He repeatedly said that they need to fight to save these oppressed people. When I phoned Mohammed, a female friend picked up the phone and said that they wanted reinforcements, everyone in the team had been martyred. Turning to the people waiting at the border, I said my son Muhammed was martyred, my condolences to the honorable Kurdish people. We brought his remains from the border to Karaz in the company of convoys, and we laid to rest him there as well."

'KURDISH PEOPLE GROWED KOBANÊ'

Expressing that the Kobanê resistance was saved by the struggle of the Kurdish people and the peoples of the world, Şık said: "Turkey will not accept its attacks today. The city was destroyed during the 133-day war. Nobody has the right to attack there. They destroyed people's homes. They destroyed the city. When we went to Kobanê and saw it, it was destroyed. It had become a flat land. The struggle of the Kurdish people built Kobanê. Currently, the Turkish state is not doing well by attacking there. I am calling out to Erdogan from here, it is the Kurdish people who have greened and rebuilt Kobanê.  Is it right to attack Kobanê, which the Kurds liberated from ISIS with their hands and efforts? The Kurds took those lands and died for it. Turkey is now trying to invade again with warplanes and tanks. What right does Turkey have to kill children and innocent people? As long as this persecution continues, we and our children will continue to struggle. My son sacrificed his life for the Kurdish people, for the innocent peoples. We are ready to do whatever we can for Kobanê. We need to be ready. We must do this for our people there. Although Kobane does no harm to Turkey, it is bombed by Turkey every day. This war should be stopped, we do not want other people's children to be martyred."
