DİYARBAKIR – Latif Çetin, who was released from Diyarbakır High Security Prison No. 2 after 30 years, received a massive welcome in front of the prison.
Latif Çetin (48), who was arrested in the Yenişehir district of Diyarbakır in 1992, was sentenced to life imprisonment on political grounds by the State Security Court (DGM), from which he was expelled at the age of 18. Çetin was released from Diyarbakır High Security Prison No. 2 after 30 years of detention. Çetin, his family and relatives were greeted in front of the prison by the executives and members of the Association for Assistance with the Families of Prisoners (TUAY-DER), People's Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP). Çetin, who was greeted with applause and bells, then went to his home in Rezan, where his family resides.
Çetin, who was arrested at the age of 18 in Amed, remained in Yozgat, Siirt and Aydın Nazilli prisons, respectively.
