ISTANBUL – TTB Chairperson Şebnem Korur Fincancı, who was sentenced to 2 years, 8 months and 15 days in prison for "making propaganda for a terrorist organization", has been released.
The third hearing of the case, against Turkish Medical Association (TTB) Central Council President Dr. Şebnem Korur Fincancı who was arrested on charges of "making propaganda for a terrorist organization" for evaluating Turkey's chemical weapons attack on Zap, Avaşîn and Metîna regions in Federated Kurdistan, continued at the Istanbul 24th High Criminal Court after the break.
'LAW IS THE PROSTITUTE OF GOVERNMENT'
The court board asked Fincancı for his final words. Taking the floor again, Fincancı pointed to the anarchist theorist Bakunin's words "Law is the prostitute of government" and said: "The pressures are made by the direction of the power; therefore, this is a political case, not a legal case. TTB is wanted to be destroyed. In fact, the right of the society to seek their rights is being taken away from them."
PRISON SENTENCE AND RELEASE
The court adjourned the hearing for one hour to explain its decision. After the break, TTB Chairperson Şebnem Korur Fincancı, who was sentenced to 2 years, 8 months and 15 days in prison for "making propaganda for a terrorist organization", was released.
