DİYARBAKIR- Kudret Eryılmaz, mother of Rıdvan Eryılmaz, who lost his life fighting against ISIS in Kobanê, which is under the threat of Turkey's attack, said: “The Kurds saved the world from ISIS brutality in Kobanê. Now the whole world should protect Kobanê.”

The city of Kobanê in Northern and Eastern Syria, where ISIS launched invasion attacks on September 15, 2014, was completely cleared of ISIS on January 26, 2015. Kudret Eryılmaz, the mother of Rıdvan Eryılmaz (Cafeda Dağ), who died while fighting against ISIS, called on the whole world to protect Kobanê by reacting to Turkey's possible attacks on the city.

Expressing that his son joined the struggle on April 26, 2011, Eryılmaz said: "His uncle, who died when he was only 9 years old, had a great influence on this. My son was affected when his uncle passed away. After the ISIS attacks on Kobanê, he went to Kobanê. While the attacks on Kobanê continued, my mother and I went to Suruç. I did not know that Rıdvan was in Kobanê, but I had a feeling, I came home and told his father that Rıdvan had come to Kobanê, but he didn't believe me. All mothers whose children were at war at the border felt themselves at war. Every time a wounded person came to the border, all the mothers run to those who were there and said, 'that child is mine'. We built a cemetery for the martyrs in Suruç and laid to rest them there.”

'YOUNG PEOPLE SACRIFICED THEIR LIVES'

Stating that her son was very attached to his values and land, Eryılmaz said: "I used to say to him that he cannot bear the burden of Kurdistan. He said that he would be worthy of his people. I wish I could see him alive. After the news of martyrdom came, we went to Suruç. Even if death is going to happen, it must be honorable and dignified. First, we went to MEBYA-DER and said that I wanted to identify the body, however, despite our applications and efforts, we were able to receive the body after 3 years. At the beginning of the grave, I said to the police, 'Kurdish children are not terrorists, they are martyrs of truth. They did not accept persecution. They gave their lives by resisting. The Kurds saved the world from ISIS brutality. As we are mothers, we should not cry anymore. Turkish, Arab and Kurdish mothers are no different from each other. This dirty war should stop. Kobanê is sacred to all Kurds, especially the mothers whose children were martyred there. Kobanê is our most fragile place. The blood of thousands of Kurdish and foreign youth was shed there. As a mother, I call on the whole world to protect Kobanê. If Kobanê falls, we will fall too.”
